Dear Members,
Welcome to the International Wives Club Web page. The International Wives Club began in 1969 as a non-profit organization designed to promote friendships between the spouses of international and US military officers assigned to Quantico Marine Corps Base. One of the greatest ways to promote that friendship is through the monthly luncheons which provide an opportunity to try the ethnic foods of a variety of countries. It is also a great chance to learn a little bit about the culture, and history of these countries. Members can help prepare some of the marvelous dishes twice during the year.
If you are new to the International Wives Club there are a variety of locations to visit within this Web page. You can check out the site for membership, the quilting group, and reservations, for example. We have the dates and times for all luncheons, which enables you to reserve a seat and pay in advance. We have a great year planned out that will afford us all an opportunity to make new friends, learn a little bit about a variety of countries.
The first event of the season is the Welcome which is scheduled for August 25, 2010 at 10:00 am, at the Quantico Clubs, (next to the base pool). This is a great opportunity to stop in with your kids, learn about the purpose of the International Wives Club, ask any questions and fill out an application. This is a great time to learn about the Quilting group and join. This fabulous group meets to teach the members to sew a beautiful quilt. There is also Bunko group that meets once a month to play a dice game.
Finally, we are always looking for ladies who would like to serve on the International Officers' Wives Club Board. If that is something that interests you feel free to let us know at the Welcome or contact the president throught the website. I look forward to meeting you all!
